Joe Alagna is Chief Strategy Officer at it.com Domains Ltd and a former Board Member of the Domain Name Association. Previously, he served as Director of Business Development at Afilias, one of the world’s largest private domain registries. Before that, he was Vice President of Channel Development at 101domain, specializing in international domain names (ccTLDs), global brand strategy, and the new generic top-level domains (gTLDs). From 2001 to 2013, he was General Manager for North American markets at London-based CentralNic, which went public on the London Stock Exchange (AIM) in 2013.
In 2012, Joe contributed to more than 60 successful new gTLD applications, including .xyz, .club, and .app. For over 20 years, he has specialized in helping emerging registries and ccTLDs grow and succeed. A dedicated writer, Joe authored One in Two Million, a memoir about his father, a decorated WWII veteran. His second book, How to Get Your Own Top-Level Domain, co-authored with Andrey Insarov, is set for release on May 15, 2025.
Joe has spoken at major events hosted by ICANN, the Direct Marketing Association, The Domain Name Conference, Targeted Traffic, and multiple NamesCon events. He has also taught online marketing for the SBA and several Small Business Development Centers in Southern California. A passionate domain name advocate, Joe brings hands-on experience across every facet of the industry—from registries and registrars to domainers and resellers.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys bicycling, reading, and spending time with his family.
