Jim Prendergast is the founder of the Galway Strategy Group, a global consultancy providing market intelligence, policy strategy, and business insight across the domain name industry, Internet governance, and technology policy. With decades of experience, Jim is a recognized expert on ICANN’s new gTLD program—having successfully guided nearly 100 applications through the 2012 round—and has served on both the Policy Development Process and the Implementation Review Team for the forthcoming 2026 round.
Jim is a seasoned participant in key Internet governance institutions, including ICANN, the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the United Nations. He has helped clients design and deliver successful workshops at the IGF and regional forums such as EuroDIG, bringing together multi-stakeholder voices around emerging Internet policy issues.
Jim also provides strategic counsel to clients launching new gTLDs, advising on policy development, market strategy, and operational execution. He regularly serves on U.S. delegations to ITU Council Working Groups and Plenipotentiary Conferences, offering private sector perspectives to international policymakers.
