Describe your company and how long you have been there?
Rightside is focused on advancing the market for domain name usage. Rightside offers one of the industry’s most comprehensive platforms for the discovery, registration, usage, and monetization of domain names, and is home to some of the most admired brands in the industry, including eNom and Name.com. Headquartered in Kirkland, WA, Rightside has offices in North America, Europe and Australia and I have been here for 8 years.
What can attendees look forward to during your session?
An open discussion on the latest trends in the industry and how these may continue through 2017.
What can attendees do in order to prepare for your session? Are there any questions or scenarios they should consider in advance?
Leave any bias you may have at home and come with an open mind on how domain names will be used in the next few years.
What are your thoughts on the new TLDs?
I think new domain extensions are great, but I think all domain extensions are valuable. I like to focus on how to get people to use domain names rather than which TLD is best.
What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming NamesCon?
Last year at NamesCon we were in the middle of the CHIP domain name frenzy, so I’m curious to see what will be the buzz this year.
Who are you excited to hear speak at NamesCon? Why?
Without a doubt, my colleagues from Rightside. Hearing them speak on a panel always gives me a different perspective of how we at Rightside present our ideas and values to an audience.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I was short throughout high school and did not really grow until I was 19 years old. (editor’s note: Jeffrey is really tall)
How did you get your start in the industry?
Started working for register.com in NYC a long time ago with many other folks who are still in the domain industry.
If you had fifteen extra minutes each day, what would you do with them?
It used to be run an extra 2 miles, but now that I’m getting older I may have slowed down a bit.
Where is your favourite place to escape?
On a chairlift, on my way up the mountain.
