Describe your company. How long have you been there, and what led you to this career choice?
We provide a software platform for domain investors to sell, market, promote, and monetize their domains in a professional way and create their own unique domain sales brands. No commissions or success fees are charged through the platform. We started in 2007 with a domain marketplace software called Domainer Script. In 2011 the name was changed to Domain Market Pro (DMP), to reflect the broad scope and vision of the software. It is coined as the first ‘domain marketing platform’ and continues to grow organically with improved and new features. As an owner of hundreds of domains myself, I was galvanized to create a platform to enable domain owners build a business not only to sell more domains but also to create viable business models utilizing the traffic generated by their domains. In short, to create a regular cash flow while they wait for the right buyers.

NamesCon is all about business networking. Can you tell us a story about the success of a meeting at NamesCon?
I have been very fortunate to build lasting relationships at NamesCon. Relationships that we especially treasure because of the candid exchange of ideas to make our platform even better that came as a result. I also really appreciate and truly enjoy connecting with clients in person for the very first time at NamesCon. It’s been an amazing experience. Also, a very cool factor has been watching the live auction and seeing our other clients, who didn’t make it in person, bid online. I could recognized their handles.

Can you tell us about how your service or product helps deliver value to your customers?
DMP allows domain investors to build professional, credible, trusted, and authoritative domain marketplaces very quickly, thus helping in a massive way to dispel the impression of a “squatter”. Domain sales and landing pages are designed to generate more volume in sales and offers. You have all leads stored in the back-end. You can see who makes an offer that can aid in understanding any potential signals of budget. You can easily follow-up on leads. DMP has the capability to run multiple marketplaces from a single interface for scenarios where you may want to have different marketplaces for specific niches. You can monetize your marketplace(s) and landing pages. DMP also has sales tools to incentivize sales such as creating discount codes/coupons and social media landing pages. And there is much more.

How does your career compare to what you envisioned in your youth?
Since I was very young I envisioned myself in a creative career such as graphic design or photography. But a year after college I got a job at a transportation consulting firm. My boss wanted me to learn programming to develop a PC-based software for the preparation of hazmat/dangerous goods documents that are compliant with federal and international multi-modal regulations. With the advancement of the Internet I pushed to develop the software as a Web-based SaaS (Software-as-a-Service). The management went another way. I left the job to start my own Web development company while the software fizzled out. I ended up starting a different SaaS.

How would you describe what you do in a single sentence to a stranger?
Market your domains like a pro.

Latest and greatest accomplishment in your career?
My greatest accomplishment is the amazing clients I have the privilege of working with, many for over a decade.

Describe a recent challenge that you overcame.
Rebooting Domain Market Pro as a SaaS in 2015-16 with 100% new code.

What are your thoughts on the new TLDs?
Some have clear resale value. Some have practical value. For most, time will tell.

How has GDPR affected your business, if at all?
Our platform is GDPR compliant. But we don’t see any significant impact at this time.

What kinds of changes to you foresee in this industry within the industry in the next year? The next 5 years?
Companies will become more conscious of domains as critical part of their overall brand and identity. Value for short, dictionary word, 2 keyword and brandable domains will increase. Domainers will have better and more varied choice of tools to sell and monetize their domains. Trust, authority, and security will become more critical to do business online.

What are the most innovative products or services that are currently impacting your business?
DMP is utilizing well established Web technologies to create an innovative platform that allows domainers to sell domains in ways that rival that of mainstream marketplaces. Our aim is to continue to develop this platform so that it continues to be an innovative product that will impact the businesses of domainers today and tomorrow.

Who would you like to hear speak at NamesCon? Why?
