Describe your company and how long you have been there?
I work on the registry side of the industry and I just joined them in April of this year.
What are your thoughts on the new TLDs?
Owning and operating two new TLDs that are in the top 10 most registered domains is of great pride for us and therefore make us very bullish on the new TLD market. The general public is coming around and with large enterprise level companies utilizing new TLDs, it’s only a matter of time before we see the rise of the NotComs.
What kinds of changes to you foresee within the industry in the next year? 5 years?
I know for a fact that within the next year we’re going to see a change in how domainers transact thanks in part to a new product we’re looking to launch. It’s going to disrupt the domain industry in a big way. Within the next 5 I would like to think we’ll have another round of ICANN applications where we’ll see brands come out and register their own names giving all of us in the industry a real push.
What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming NamesCon?
Over the past few months I’ve gotten to know a few domainers and always enjoy hearing their stories on how they navigate the landscape. Being on the registry side of the business I don’t get enough opportunities to meet domainers so I figure what better chance than to meet them in bulk at NamesCon.
Who would you like to hear speak at NamesCon? Why?
Frank Schilling. This might sound odd coming from someone who works for him but I never tire of hearing his thoughts on the industry. He has a great passion for what he does and most people don’t see the side of Frank that works at all hours. It’s inspiring to work for someone who works that hard.
Name 3 things you can’t travel without.
Noise cancelling headphones, head pillow, Emergen-C.
Where is your favorite place to escape?
The golf course.
What industry trends or topics do you think will be at the forefront of panel and keynote discussions this year?
How premiums in the new TLD space compare to the legacy ones.
What are you proudest of in your life?
The work my cousins and I have done to revamp an orphanage in India that our grandfather started.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Doesn’t matter what you do in life, just make sure you do it to the best of your abilities.
