Describe your company and how long you have been there.
City Brand Media presently manages over 450 City brands, both domestic and international. I am the CEO and CoFounder. It all began with the purchase and the successful development of Scottsdale.com.
Tell us about your last experience at NamesCon and what you got out of it?
2016 was my first attendance at NamesCon, and it was very productive. I was able to have meetings with many of my existing clients, as well as making some new contacts that became significant clients of City Brand Media.
Can you tell us about how your service helps deliver value to your customers?
We provide complete platform, marketing, content, hosting and revenue generation for our City(dot)com owners. Our scalability and many years of success in the hyper-local space gives us a major advantage over single site operators; the ability to develop national advertising revenue, along with local advertising revenue and content, are all major pieces to the puzzle. We are undertaking a major initiative in this space, and it doesn’t happen overnight. We are progressing on the right path.
What are your thoughts on the new TLDs?
We are major .com supporters; we have not entered any contracts with gTLDs, and believe that while there may be certain TLDs that have value, our focus is on the dominant .com brand.
What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming NamesCon?
I will be attending with some key associates and executives from City Brand Media, and hope to develop additional monetization and partnership strategies with key companies. We tend to partner with only “best in class” providers and organizations.
How does your career compare to what you envisioned in your youth?
After leaving college early, I always envisioned having my own business. I have not had a “job” in over 30 years!
What’s the most recent thing you learned (big or small)?
How partnering with the smartest, brightest, dedicated and experienced people in my industry makes things much easier.
Where is your favourite place to escape?
We have a second home in the White Mountains of Arizona, in a golf community called Torreon. It is the perfect getaway, and one of the major attractions is the weather. In the summer months, when it is 112 degrees in Scottsdale, it is only 85 degrees in Torreon, as we are at 6300 feet elevation. Vacation wise? Hawaii, Mexico and Europe.
What object would you put in a time capsule that best represents who you are today?
A video of my beloved Chicago Cubs game 7 World Series victory! I spent 15 years in Chicago, lived near Wrigley Field, and my love for the Cubs has been with me since 1980.
