On Tuesday, January 30, NamesCon attendees gathered at the .com | .net Keynote Hall for one of the conference's most highly anticipated events: the RightOfTheDot/NameJet Domain Auction. The auction was off to a fast and furious start thanks to live auctioneer Wayne Wheat, who flexed vocal muscles with a tongue-twister that was recorded to break a Guinness World Record.
GREAT.COM sold for a whopping $900,000, while PAYPERCLICK.COM was acquired for $100,000.
This year, due to the legalization of cannabis, the auction saw more names related to the topic in comparison to last year. FAKENEWS.COM, a highly topical domain for this day and age, sold for $65,000. An attendee walked away with TEES.COM, which sold for $50,000.
Over $1.5M worth of domains were sold yesterday during the three-hour period, with the sell-through rate at just under 57%.
It was an exciting and productive afternoon thanks to Monte Cahn and Jonathan Tenenbaum as Wayne Wheat maintained a lively pace, keeping attendees entertained and engaged. We hope everyone who joined us enjoyed their time at the Domain Auction!
